News Flash: ABB Cancels Final Days of John's Ride

Hurricane Ivan, a Category-5 storm with winds in excess of 160 mph, and dozens of recorded fatalities in the Caribbean, was headed straight for New Orleans on the same day we were supposed to arrive there. For obvious reasons, ABB could not allow the ride to continue. So just a few days short of our final destination, we were forced to stop riding, collect our belongings, and make hasty preparations to return home.

I made it home safe and sound on the 14th, but the only thing I got to see in New Orleans was a northbound traffic jam and the airport. God bless you all, and thank you for keeping me in your prayers.

This year was a whole new ride for me - I started at the top of the country and worked my way down, instead of riding across, like every other year. I was so excited to be trying something new this year, and seeing some new places. We rode almost the entire 1755 miles along the full length of the Mississippi River, but as noted above, didn't quite make it all the way to The Big Easy.

I had my Fuji FinePix 2800Z digital camera with me the entire time, and I took lots of pictures and movies. Check out all the stories below - especially the Field of Dreams Saga!

These are the Field of Dreams days:
