Day 6, Friday, September 14, 2004

Bandon, OR to Gold Coast, OR
59.3 miles, 14.4 mph, 4h 5m 38s

Up at 6:15, 7:00 breakfast at Minute restaurant, 8:00 load luggage, 8:20 on the road.

As you can see from my early pics, the weather again is lousy. It was cool, overcast, damp and foggy again this morning. The ocean views continue to be outstanding. I continue to want to stop at every possible place, to try to get that perfect picture. However, I now know that they look great but they won't turn out good due to the misty fog and lack of sun.

At about 10 AM the fog burned off and...

Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!

The sun came out today!

(and it stayed out for the rest of the day)

Do you like my rhyme?

If you have been reading my journals, you know that we haven't seen the sun for 5 days. Boy does it feel good. I have been wearing Joe Sullivan's windbreaker every day - thanks Joe! I removed it, jumped up and down, did a little dance, yelled and screamed - Hooray! Needless to say, I continued on with much higher spirits.

Most of the rest of the day was inland away from the coast so not much for photo opportunities. However, we did see a herd of grazing llamas. I was tempted to go over and pet one, but they probably wouldn't want me to. Also, today was a short day and I arrived at our hotel at 2:15 PM. This was the earliest yet for me. My hope is that the good weather will continue tomorrow. We have a 60 mile ride to Crescent City, CA tomorrow and then a day of rest Sunday in Crescent City.

[Editor's note: I still like my version, when all we had to go on was the photos...]
