Day 9, 95 miles, Thurs. Sept. 2, 2010
(my odometer: 97.1 miles, 15.6 mph, 6hr 12 m 7 s)

North Myrtle Beach, SC to Georgetown, SC

Up at 5:00, 6:00 continental breakfast (orange juice, 2 danish, raisin bran, waffle), 7:00 load luggage, 7:10 on the road. Today’s forecast was for partly sunny skies, 20mph winds from the north and a 50% chance of showers in the late afternoon.

The forecast was right on! We had a nice tail wind most of the day. This made our 95 mile ride not as stressful. Hurricane Earl's projection has remained pretty much the same. It is heading straight for SC but is supposed to turn sharply north. Then it will go north just off the east coast and pass over Cape Cod.

The ride today was very long, very flat but the tail wind really helped me to maintain a relatively high average of 15.6 mph. A little over 6 hours is pretty good for a 95 mile ride. There were very few photo opps today. I arrived at our hotel at 2:15.

Our hotel, the Jameson Inn, is very nice (see pics below). We went to another Ryan's Grill and Buffet for dinner, lots to choose from. Tomorrow is another long ride, 94 miles to Santee, SC.
