Day 7, 55 miles, Tues, Aug 31, 2010
(My odometer: 60 mi, 14.8 avg mph, 3h 46m 8s, max speed 23.3 mph)
Whiteville, NC to Myrtle Beach, SC
Up at 5:00, 6:00 continental breakfast at hotel, 7:00 load luggage, 7:10 on the road. Today’s forecast was mostly sunny with temps in the low 90’s.
Because today was a short 55 miles, we all road slower than usual. Even though I was the last one in, I still arrived at hotel at noon.
I was surprised to discover that our hotel was right on the ocean and our room was facing the ocean. We are on the second floor and have a balcony overlooking the ocean. This is really cool, very special.
We quickly had a RAP for Thursday’s ride to Georgetown and then several of us went for a walk on the beach. We then went to lunch at an Irish Pub/restaurant next to our hotel. Then I came back to do laundry here at hotel and do my computer blog. Time passed quickly and soon it was time for dinner. I joined 3 other cyclists and we took a cab to a fancy restaurant 3 miles away, then back to hotel. I expect to have a cyclist's autobiographies posted in a few days, just like I did on my ride last year. I think all you that are following me will find it very interesting. More on this soon...
Tomorrow is a day off here at Myrtle Beach. I don’t have a plan yet but swimming in the ocean is something I’d like to do.
