Southeastern CT Foliage Tour 2012
Old Lyme, Lyme

Up at 6:30 a.m. Temperature 54F. Forecast is for temperatures rising to low 60’s and breezy. Today’s ride was a 34 mile tour of Lyme/Old Lyme with 10 Pequot Cyclists. The route was hilly at times with colorful scenery and delightful cycling weather. Average group speed was 14 mph.

The absolute best thing that happened was that my son Jon joined me today. He drove down from Northern CT to meet me at the ride start. The temperature rose to 62F. Rain threatened at times, but it just remained overcast all day. I had wanted to take some pictures, but did not feel safe stopping. If we did, we would drop off the back of the group and then have to catch up. I’ve never ridden in Lyme before and feared getting lost. Even though we had a ride cue sheet, I had no idea where we were - couldn’t take the chance.

It was great just cycling with my son! Now I need to convince him to join me on my ABB 1200 mile, 15 day ride next summer around Lake Erie and Ontario.
