Southeastern CT Foliage Tour 2012
Gales Ferry, Ledyard, Mystic, Groton
Today was the first of five consecutive days of cycling in Southeastern CT. This most recent plan has been necessary because the original five-day ride in Maine was canceled. Three of the rides are borrowed from the Pequot Cyclists Club’s itinerary of rides. The other two rides are parts of my training rides. All of the rides are scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.
Up at 6:30 a.m. for a sunny, but cold 48F. Today was a 39-mile ride in Gales Ferry, Mystic and Ledyard. On the road 9:20 (a bit late), and it had warmed up to 54F. Part of today’s ride went down both sides of the Mystic River, including the drawbridge. There were many scenic waterfront, riverside views. There were also beautiful countryside farms. The ride finished up with a hilly ride across Ledyard on Gallup Hill Road, Wendell Comrie Road and Lambtown Road and finally across the Ledyard Reservoir. The day started out a bit chilly, but overall it was an ideal sunny Autumn day for cycling.
